STUDENTS AND MARKET WOMEN FLEE AS BEES TAKE OVER OKORASE IN SUHUM
Okorase, Suhum - Panic gripped residents of Okorase in the Suhum Municipality after a large swarm of bees took over parts of the community, sending students and market women running helter-skelter for their lives. The bees reportedly settled in the area recently and have since been attacking residents. Many people, particularly school children and market women who use the area daily, have suffered painful stings. According to reports, the situation became unbearable as the bees became aggressive, forcing people to flee whenever they swarmed. Following the persistent attacks, worried residents made a distress call to the Suhum Municipal Fire Station. A seven-member crew led by ADO II Ocansey Bright responded swiftly and successfully located the swarm in the ceiling of a metal container where they had clustered. The firefighters professionally relocated the bees, bringing the terrifying situation under control without any casualties. Residents and traders who had been living in fear have now expressed relief and commended the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for their timely intervention. Meanwhile, the GNFS is advising the public not to throw stones, spray chemicals, or set fire to bee swarms, as it provokes them to attack. Residents are urged to stay calm, keep away from infested areas, and call the Fire Service emergency lines *112 / 192* for safe removal. Report by: Osofoba Enoch - Eastern Region
