GH¢300,000 DAMAGE ESTIMATED AFTER FIRE INVOLVING VIP BUS AT AKYEM AKOOKO
A fire involving a 33-seater VIP bus has resulted in an estimated GH¢300,000 in damage at Akyem Akooko along the Accra–Kumasi Highway in the Eastern Region. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said its firefighters swiftly responded to the incident, brought the fire under control and completely extinguished the blaze. According to preliminary reports, the driver noticed thick smoke inside the bus while resting after an earlier mechanical fault had reportedly been repaired. Initial observations suggest a possible electrical fault as the cause of the fire. However, investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause. The bus, with registration number GE 8855-15, was involved in the incident, but no casualties were recorded. Report by: Osofoba Enoch Eastern Region | ICAD TV
