HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION WERE THE SECRETS BEHIND OUR 2-0 VICTORY OVER CANADA – NANA JOE ADARKWA.
Black Maidens head coach Nana Joe Adarkwa has attributed his team's 2-0 victory over Canada to hard work and determination, following their impressive performance in the competition. Speaking in an interview with Paul Napoleon Agyeman, host of Scoreboard, Adarkwa revealed that he had motivated his players to approach the match with a winning mentality, emphasizing the importance of securing victory to progress to the next stage of the competition. “The whole secret behind our victory was hard work and determination. We told the players that we had to win the match against Canada or go home if we lost. Fortunately for us, we won the match 2-0,” he said. The coach also acknowledged the disappointment that comes when players fail to execute the instructions given to them during training. However, he stressed that encouraging and motivating players remains an important responsibility of a coach. “If you train players to play the way you want them to, and they fail to do so, it can be quite disappointing. However, you still have to encourage them,” Adarkwa explained. Turning his attention to the goalkeeping department, the Black Maidens coach described the goalkeeper as the team's first line of defence and revealed that the technical team was working with her to improve her goalkeeping skills and tactical awareness ahead of their next challenge. “We are talking to our goalkeeper to help her improve her goalkeeping skills and tactics as we prepare to face Argentina in the next stage of the competition,” he added. With the Black Maidens set to face Argentina in the next round, Adarkwa and his technical team will be hoping to build on the confidence gained from their victory over Canada as they continue their campaign in the competition.
