Hobor Queen Mother Champions Girls’ Education and Women’s Empowerment*

The Ewe Queen Mother for the Hobor Electoral Area, Mama Gah Hobor 1, has called for greater attention to the education, personal hygiene and empowerment of young girls and women in the community. Mama Gah Hobor 1 disclosed that she has served as the Ewe Queen Mother of the Hobor Electoral Area for about six years. She acknowledged that the role comes with several challenges but said she continues to serve with strength, commitment and determination. According to her, one of her key responsibilities is to mobilize young schoolgirls and educate them on personal hygiene, responsible decision-making and the importance of staying in school. She said the initiative is aimed at protecting young girls from negative influences, teenage pregnancy and school dropout. She emphasized that educating and guiding young girls will help them become responsible adults who can contribute positively to the future development of the Hobor community. The Queen Mother also revealed that every month, younger women are mobilized to discuss issues affecting them and encourage them to actively participate in community development.
