Big Push Road Initiative Reaches Upper West Akim District
The government’s Big Push New Roads Initiative under President John Dramani Mahama has extended to the Upper West Akim District in the Eastern Region, with major road works currently underway.
The project, being implemented through the Ministry of Roads and Highways, has reached the Mepom–Nyanowa stretch, where contractors are actively working on road demarcation, grading, and pavement preparation as part of the Big Push programme.
Residents say the road, which had long been in poor condition, is now receiving significant attention, with ongoing works expected to improve transportation, trade, and access to nearby communities.
The initiative forms part of government efforts to expand road infrastructure across the country and improve connectivity in rural and farming areas.
Local residents in Upper West Akim have welcomed the development, describing it as a long-awaited intervention that will ease movement and boost economic activities once completed.
