MOHAMMED AMIN LAMPTEY CALLS FOR CHECKS AND BALANCES OVER VISA SCANDAL CLAIMS INVOLVING GFA
Former Ghana Boxing Association Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Amin Lamptey, has called for stronger checks and balances to help reduce visa-related controversies involving Ghanaian football delegations, particularly in connection with the 2026 World Cup tournament. According to Lamptey, visa-related challenges cannot be completely eliminated, but proper systems and accountability can help minimise their occurrence. He noted that such incidents are not new and alleged that some Ghana Football Association executives have been linked to the controversies surrounding the issue. Lamptey also expressed concern about the current state of boxing in Ghana, arguing that the sport is no longer functioning at the level it used to. He recalled a time when Ghana had several boxers competing successfully on the international stage, but said there is now declining interest among young people in pursuing boxing. Commenting on the ongoing discussions surrounding the administration of Ghana football, Lamptey described the situation as worrying and urged those calling for the dissolution of the Ghana Football Association to first consider FIFA's regulations governing national football associations. He further called on stakeholders to avoid actions that could damage the reputation of Ghana football and said GFA President Kurt Okraku should be allowed to complete his tenure of office. Mohammed Amin Lamptey made these remarks during an interview with Paul Napoleon Agyeman, host of Scoreboard, where he discussed issues affecting Ghana football and boxing.
