THE UNITED FREEDOM PARTY COMMUNICATION - DIRECTOR - SOLOMON OWUSU CALLS FOR KURT OKRAKU AND GFA EXECUTIVES TO STEP ASIDE
The Communication Director of the United Freedom Party (UFP) has called for Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku and his executive members to step aside, arguing that no individual is bigger than Ghana and that the national interest must remain the priority in the administration of football.
Speaking in an interview with Paul Napoleon Agyeman, host of Scoreboard, the UFP Communication Director questioned the frequent changes of coaches whenever Ghana's national teams struggle to achieve results. He argued that changing coaches alone does not address the fundamental challenges confronting Ghana football. He therefore called on Kurt Okraku to leave office, insisting that if the GFA President steps down, members of his executive team should also leave.
The UFP Communication Director further called for qualified and experienced football administrators to be appointed to manage the country's football affairs. He also commented on allegations concerning Sports Minister Kofi Adams, saying that if the allegations are proven to be true, the minister should also consider stepping aside. He expressed strong dissatisfaction with what he described as a failure to put the national interest at the centre of football administration.
The UFP official also outlined the party's proposed vision for Ghana football if it comes to power. He said the party would treat football as a business and pursue partnerships with corporate institutions to develop modern, FIFA-standard stadia. He further proposed a structured grassroots development system in which every Senior High School would adopt a Junior High School and establish a pathway for young talents into Ghana's lower-division leagues. According to him, such a system would help strengthen grassroots football development and create a more sustainable future for Ghana football.
He said these statements during an interview with Paul Napoleon Agyeman Scoreboard Host.
