GHANA FOOTBALL IS PLAGUED BY FAVOURITISM AND NEPOTISM – NANA KWASI DARLYN
Nana Kwasi Darlyn has alleged that Ghanaian football is currently plagued by favouritism and nepotism, expressing concern over the state of the game under the leadership of Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku.
According to him, Kurt Okraku’s leadership is one of the major problems facing Ghana football. He lamented that Ghana was once regarded as one of the leading football nations in Africa, but believes the country’s football fortunes have declined in recent years.
Darlyn further compared the leadership of former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi to that of the current administration, arguing that Nyantakyi’s tenure was better. He also mentioned investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, suggesting that his investigations contributed to the decline of Ghana football.
He also criticised Kurt Okraku’s reported desire to be remembered in the same way as Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah. According to Darlyn, Okraku cannot attain the same historical recognition as the late Ghanaian leader.
Furthermore, Darlyn claimed that Ghana football’s image has been tarnished under Okraku’s leadership, warning that the future of the game remains at risk if the current GFA president continues in office.
He maintained that changes in leadership are necessary to address the challenges confronting Ghana football and restoring the country’s reputation on the African football stage.
He said all these during an interview with Paul Napoleon Agyeman Scoreboard Host.
