ROSLYN AMOH CALLS FOR GOALKEEPING IMPROVEMENTS AND BACKS NANA ADARKWA TO CONTINUE AS BLACK MAIDENS COACH
Roslyn Amoh has called for improvements in the goalkeeping department of Ghana's U-17 women's national team, the Black Maidens, following their performance against Norway.
Amoh believes that both the players and the technical team lack the necessary exposure to tournaments of this nature. She explained that an international friendly match before the competition would have helped the team prepare adequately.
She also disclosed that she anticipated Norway would press the Black Maidens high up the pitch. However, she believes the Norwegian side did not demonstrate extraordinary football that was beyond the capabilities of Ghana's young players.
According to Amoh, Ghana's national teams, both male and female, have consistently struggled in their opening matches, highlighting the need for better preparation ahead of major competitions.
Looking ahead to Ghana's next match against Canada, Amoh urged the technical team to pay particular attention to the goalkeeping department. She expressed concern about the goals conceded against Norway, stressing that the goalkeepers must improve their performances.
She further urged coach Nana Adarkwa and his technical team to learn from the mistakes made in the opening game and make the necessary adjustments before facing the Canadian U-17 women's team.
Amoh also advised the Ghana Football Association against changing the head coach at this stage of the competition. She believes retaining Nana Adarkwa would be the best decision for the Black Maidens, particularly following FIFA's recent lifting of the ban on Ghana's U-17 women's team.
She emphasised that continuity within the technical team would be more beneficial than making coaching changes, as the team needs stability and improved preparation to compete effectively in the tournament.
Amoh remains hopeful that the Black Maidens can learn from their opening-match mistakes, strengthen their weaknesses and deliver a better performance against Canada.
She made this remarkable statement during an interview with Paul Napoleon Agyeman, host of Scoreboard.
