FREE PRIMARY HEALTHCARE: MINISTER OUTLINES REGIONAL BREAKDOWN FOR FIRST PHASE

The Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has outlined the regional breakdown of the Free Primary Healthcare initiative for the first phase, covering a total of 135 districts across 16 regions. *The regional allocation is as follows:* Ashanti Region: 8 districts Bono Region: 5 districts Bono East Region: 6 districts Eastern Region: 8 districts Greater Accra Region: 7 districts Volta Region: 11 districts Western Region: 7 districts Central Region: 11 districts Ahafo Region: 2 districts Northern Region: 14 districts Savannah Region: 6 districts North East Region: 6 districts Upper East Region: 15 districts Upper West Region: 11 districts Oti Region: 9 districts Western North Region: 9 districts According to the Minister, the first-phase rollout is part of government’s broader effort to improve access to essential healthcare services and reduce financial barriers to primary healthcare delivery. The initiative is expected to bring free primary healthcare services closer to communities, particularly underserved populations, as the government works towards expanding access nationwide.
