FARMER FOUND DEAD WITH GUNSHOT WOUND TO THE CHEST IN SUSPECTED SUICIDE AT TEWIA
A 45-year-old farmer, Anuma Samuel, popularly known as Degue, has died after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest in an incident being investigated as a suspected suicide at Tewia in the Atiwa East District of the Eastern Region.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday morning at the deceased's residence.
According to family members and eyewitnesses, Mr. Samuel was married and had seven children.
Speaking to our reporter, the deceased's wife, Madam Adobea Jennette, said there had been a misunderstanding in the family earlier that morning after their youngest child asked his father for money to go to school. She explained that Mr. Samuel was unable to provide the money, leading to a brief disagreement.
She said Mr. Samuel later left for his farm and, upon returning home, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead.
The Ghana Police Service has been notified and has conveyed the body to the morgue for preservation and an autopsy.
Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances and cause of death. While the incident is being treated as a suspected suicide, the cause of death has not yet been officially determined.
