SECURITY IN GHANA “WORSENING” – ANALYSTS SLAM CURRENT AND PAST GOVERNMENTS.
Security analyst Andrews Aseidu Tetteh has issued a stark warning that security in Ghana is spiraling out of control under the current government, while noting that it was already failing under the past administration.
Speaking on Ghana Nti Today on ICAD TV, hosted by Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, Mr. Tetteh described the country as “sitting on a time bomb” due to leadership failures, lack of reforms, and inadequate protection for citizens.
“Even two days is too long when lives are lost. Anyone claiming Ghana is safe is lying,” he said.
He cited unrest in Bawku and violent incidents extending to Neruligu, warning that catastrophic security crises are looming if immediate action is not taken.
Government Accountability Questioned
Mr. Tetteh criticized both administrations for neglecting the security sector:
Past government failures left intelligence and defense structures weak.
Current government has worsened the situation through delays in substantive appointments and lack of investment in training and technology.
He also accused political leaders of corruption and misplaced priorities, saying that while public systems crumble, many politicians educate their children abroad instead of improving national security.
“Both past and current governments have failed the people. Neglect and incompetence are costing lives,” he warned.
