Security analyst Andrews Aseidu Tetteh has condemned government neglect and leadership gaps in Ghana’s security sector, warning that citizens remain at serious risk.
Speaking on Ghana Nti Today on ICAD TV, Mr. Tetteh criticized the absence of a substantive Defence Minister, saying that acting appointments cannot address ongoing security challenges. He noted that weaknesses have persisted since the tenure of the late Defence Minister.
He questioned why Ghana, while relying on foreign support for the economy through the 17th IMF programme under former Finance Minister Ken Ofori‑Atta, does not similarly invest in modern technology and capacity for security forces.
The analyst also accused political leaders of corruption, noting that public systems crumble while many politicians educate their children abroad, prioritizing private interests over national safety.
“Government neglect is putting lives and the nation at risk,” he warned.
