ROAD ENGINEER CALLS FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION AND STRICT ENFORCEMENT TO CURB FLOODING FOLLOWING HEAVY RAINFALL
Following the massive rainfall on Monday, which caused widespread flooding in parts of the country, road engineer Mr. Alex Benson has called for stronger measures to prevent future flood disasters. Speaking in an interview on ICAD TV's Ghana Nti Morning Show with host Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, Mr. Benson stressed the need for continuous public education on the dangers of building in flood-prone areas. He also urged Ghanaians to adopt proper waste disposal practices and ensure that refuse dumps are regularly cleared to prevent drains from becoming choked. Mr. Benson further cautioned operators of gas filling stations to remain extra vigilant during the rainy season, warning that severe flooding could increase the risk of fire outbreaks. He concluded by urging the government to strictly enforce laws and regulations aimed at preventing flooding. He also advised all Ghanaians to exercise caution and contribute to efforts to reduce the devastating effects of floods, especially during periods of heavy rainfall.
