OSOFO KYIRI ABOSOM SHARES HIS VIEWS ON THE LOW WAGES OF GHANAIANS WORKING FOR CHINESE-OWNED BUSINESSES

Christian Kwabena Andrews, popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, is the founder and leader of the Life Assembly Worship Centre and the founder and leader of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM). He is a Ghanaian pastor and politician who contested the 2020 and 2024 Ghanaian presidential elections as the GUM presidential candidate. Speaking in an interview with Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi on ICAD TV's Ghana Nti Morning Show, Osofo Kyiri Abosom expressed concern over the low wages reportedly earned by some Ghanaians working for Chinese-owned businesses, including shopping malls and warehouses. According to him, some workers have complained of receiving salaries as low as GH¢400 per month. He suggested that the wages paid by some Chinese employers may be influenced by the minimum wage standards in their own country. Osofo Kyiri Abosom also criticized Ghana's political leadership, arguing that many leaders fail to prioritize the welfare of citizens after assuming office. He further claimed that a man who once visited the office of former President John Agyekum Kufuor to appeal for higher salaries for workers was allegedly turned away, citing the incident as an example of what he believes is the inadequate attention given to workers' concerns. The comments reflect Osofo Kyiri Abosom's views as expressed during the interview.
