OBIMPAH CITES HARSH PENALTIES ABROAD IN CALL FOR STRONGER ACTION AGAINST SEXUAL OFFENCES
Educationalist Mr Samuel Obimpah has cited what he described as severe punishments in some Arab countries as an example of how societies seek to deter sexual offences.
Speaking to Journalist Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, he argued that Ghana should strengthen its response to offences involving children and other vulnerable persons.
Mr Obimpah referred to extreme punishments, including execution and flogging, which he claimed were applied in some countries. However, legal penalties vary across Arab countries and depend on the specific offence and applicable law.
He called for a stronger approach to protecting children and holding offenders accountable, with public education and effective enforcement forming part of the response.
