Nana Kay, NPP National Organizer Hopeful, Defends Afenyo-Markin Calls for GoldBod Investigation
NPP National Organizer hopeful Nana Kay has defended Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin over his call for an investigation into transactions involving the GoldBod and the Bank of Ghana, saying the matter should be subjected to proper scrutiny in the national interest.
Speaking on the ICADTV Ghana Nti Morning Show with host Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, Nana Kay said claims that GoldBod has recorded no loss should not prevent an investigation into the transactions between GoldBod and the Bank of Ghana.
He questioned why there should be anger and insults if there is nothing to hide.
“If Sammy Gyamfi says there is no loss at GoldBod, why the insults? We are calling for an investigation into the transactions between GoldBod and the Bank of Ghana. The investigation will establish the facts.”
Nana Kay also criticised what he described as immature responses to criticism, saying public officials must be prepared to explain their positions when questions are raised.
He said people who hold public office should be able to respond to criticism with maturity by either providing explanations or choosing to ignore the criticism.
According to him, seeking legal redress is also a legitimate option for anyone who believes they have been wrongly accused.
Nana Kay said Afenyo-Markin has demonstrated his willingness to have the matter investigated and expressed confidence that the appropriate processes would establish the truth.
He further maintained that the NPP would continue to support Afenyo-Markin in his efforts to demand accountability and transparency.
