LOTTERY WINNERS AWAIT WORLD CUP TRIP PACKAGE AMID DELAYS

Mr. Hanson, whose wife and son won a lottery organized by the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and Ghana Football Association (GFA), has expressed frustration over delays in receiving the promised package to watch the World Cup. In an interview with sports journalist Paul Napoleon Agyemang on ICAD TV’s Sports Scoreboard program, Hanson explained that they met a government minister who indicated that discussions with the lottery organizers, gambel, were ongoing, but no updates have been provided since February 25. He described the personal stress caused by the delay, noting that friends and family repeatedly call his wife to confirm the win. Hanson also mentioned complications with staking amounts, as organizers reportedly disputed the money used to enter the lottery, but he emphasized that the family had indeed won and should receive the package. During a meeting, he was initially told he could not enter because he was not the principal winner. His wife’s Ghana Card was used to allow him access, as some winners were represented by proxies. Despite these challenges, Hanson expressed faith that the organizers will honor the promised World Cup package for his wife and son. This lottery was part of the NLA and GFA’s initiative to give Ghanaian fans an opportunity to attend the upcoming World Cup. Winners are still awaiting confirmation before the tournament begins.
