Mr.Abass Moro G.P.R.T.U P.R.O today has criticized a reported directive by the Ghana Police Service suggesting that drivers may no longer be routinely stopped, but instead asked to provide their driver’s licence numbers. Speaking in an interview with Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi on ICAD TV’s Ghana Nti Today morning show, he described the policy as impractical and ineffective. According to him, many drivers may not have their licence numbers readily available, which could make the directive difficult to implement. He questioned how such a system would work in real-life situations without causing confusion. Mr. Moro further argued that the approach does not address the economic realities facing citizens. He stressed that checking licence numbers “will not put food on the table,” indicating that the policy does little to improve livelihoods. He called for a review of the directive, urging authorities to adopt more practical and impactful measures that better serve both road safety and the welfare of citizens.
