HON. AKWASI ACQUAH WARNS OF ABUSE IF GOVERNMENTS FUND PRIVATE PROPERTY WITH PUBLIC MONEY — ODA MP
Hon.Akwasi Acquah has warned against the use of state funds for privately owned assets, cautioning that such practices could lead to widespread abuse by future governments.
Speaking in an interview on ICAD TV’s Ghana Nti Today morning show with Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, the Oda MP argued that public resources must be strictly protected and used only for national development purposes.
He raised concerns over discussions involving a private jet linked to the family of John Dramani Mahama, stating that if state funds are used to repair or maintain privately owned property, it could set a dangerous precedent.
According to him, such a situation could encourage successive governments to also use public funds to support private assets, which he described as an unacceptable misuse of national resources.
He emphasized the need for accountability and clear boundaries in public spending to safeguard Ghana’s finances and ensure responsible governance.
