EDUCATIONALIST RAISES CONCERNS OVER TEENAGE PREGNANCIES AND SEXUAL MISCONDUCT IN SCHOOLS
Educationalist Mr Samuel Obimpah has raised concerns about teenage pregnancies and sexual misconduct among students, calling for stronger measures to protect learners and promote discipline in educational institutions. Speaking in an interview with Journalist Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, Mr Obimpah alleged that some students enter Senior High School after already having two or three children, raising concerns about teenage pregnancy and the challenges confronting the education system. He linked the situation to the Free Senior High School policy, arguing that access to education must be accompanied by effective guidance, discipline and education on responsible behaviour. Mr Obimpah further expressed concern about sexual relationships involving students and adults, including teachers, headmasters and senior housemasters. He called for clear rules and appropriate sanctions to address misconduct and protect students from exploitation. He stressed that school authorities and relevant stakeholders must work together to promote responsible behaviour, safeguard learners and ensure that schools remain safe environments for academic development.
