ECONOMIST CALLS for NEW PRESIDENTIAL JET, URGES FOCUS ON CORRUPTION PREVENTION

Economist Emmanuel Amoah Darkwah has suggested that Ghana may need a new presidential jet due to the frequent repairs of the current aircraft. Speaking on the Ghana Nti on ICAD TV, he explained that the existing presidential jet used by John Dramani Mahama is old and regularly requires maintenance. He noted that discussions have emerged suggesting that businessman Ibrahim Mahama, the president’s brother, could provide a jet. However, he added that purchasing a new one could reduce the cost of continuous repairs. Mr. Amoah Darkwah also addressed issues raised in recent audit reports, stating that the government has struggled to recover some funds because certain financial transactions were unverified when reports were presented by the deputy finance minister. He emphasized that corruption has become increasingly complex and urged authorities to focus more on preventing corruption rather than only trying to recover funds after they have been lost.
