“DEMO FARMERS ARE PROPAGANDA” – COCOA PRESIDENT SLAMS PROTESTS ON GHANA NTI.
Today on ICAD TV’s “Ghana Nti” morning show, host Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asrifi interviewed Mr. Anane Boateng, President of Cocoa Farmers, regarding recent demonstrations by cocoa farmers. Mr. Boateng dismissed the protests, saying those involved were propaganda farmers, not real cocoa farmers. He emphasized that the demonstrations do not represent the views of actual cocoa farmers. He explained that while some payments from the government are still pending, farmers are looking forward to receiving the money owed. He also clarified that government rules limiting cocoa sales to approved channels are in place, and the F.O.D. price system is being implemented properly, despite earlier confusion caused by IMF guidelines. Currently, cocoa is being sold at ₵64 per 64-kg bag, and Mr. Boateng stressed that farmers remain patient and committed while awaiting proper payments from the government and the Cocoa Board.
