AWUAH NYAMEKYE: GHANA HAS MADE PROGRESS IN FOOTBALL SINCE INDEPENDENCE.

Former football administrator Awuah Nyamekye says Ghana has made significant progress in football from independence to date. Speaking in an interview with Paul Napoleon on ICADTV Sports Scoreboard, Nyamekye noted that Ghana’s football development over the years shows improvement both locally and internationally. Growth and Achievements According to him: Ghana has consistently competed at high levels since independence. The country won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 1982. Ghana reached the AFCON finals in 1992 and 2015. The senior national team has participated in major global tournaments, raising Ghana’s profile internationally. He explained that reaching tournament finals is not easy, adding that sometimes success depends on luck and circumstances, as even strong nations fail to qualify at times. Focus on Talent Nyamekye stressed that football success is based on talent development. “Football is talent. It is not a commodity,” he stated, emphasizing that Ghana must continue investing in proper talent identification and development to remain competitive. He believes that overall, despite recent challenges, Ghana’s football journey since independence reflects clear progress and growth on the continental and world stage.
