ALEX EMMANUEL NTI DEFENDS MAHAMA’S PLAN TO CUT INDEPENDENCE DAY SPENDING

Political analyst Alex Emmanuel Nti has defended John Dramani Mahama’s decision to reduce spending on Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebrations. Speaking on the ICAD TV Morning Show (Ghana Nti), host Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi asked him about the plans for Independence Day. Nti said that extravagant celebrations do not create jobs, generate revenue, or improve security, and that the president’s decision to cut costs is timely and responsible. “When the economy improves, Ghana can celebrate bigger events, such as the planned 70th Independence Day at Independence Square,” he said. Nti added that reducing government expenditure on celebrations is part of broader efforts to stabilize the economy and ensure public funds are used wisely.
