At 69, GHANA MUST PUT NATION ABOVE POLITICS — MARK AWUSI AKARH WARNS ON ICAD TV

Speaking on ICAD TV’s Ghana Nti morning show with host Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asrifi, he argued that despite decades of independence, Ghana continues to struggle with health infrastructure, poverty, and political division. Mr.Awusi Akarh dismissed the notion that peace alone defines progress, insisting that “peace with hunger is not true peace.” He lamented that governance has been reduced to partisan rivalry between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), rather than focusing on national development. “Whether NPP or NDC, Ghana must be first,” he stressed. Reflecting on Ghana’s political history, he praised Kwame Nkrumah’s unmatched infrastructure achievements, noting that no president since has equaled his legacy. At the same time, he acknowledged that Nkrumah was viewed by some as both a tyrant and a democrat, underscoring the complexity of Ghana’s leadership journey. Awusi Akarh emphasized the need for continuity in governance, warning that promises alone are not enough to move the country forward. He further urged the sitting president to take decisive action against corruption, calling for the arrest of individuals who have stolen Ghana’s money. According to him, accountability is essential if the nation is to progress and restore trust in leadership. Awusi Akarh also called on the youth to be vigilant and proactive, reminding them that the future belongs to their generation and their children. “Our predecessors have done their part. Now it is our turn to ensure Ghana does not fail,” he said. As Ghana turns 69, his remarks serve as a wake-up call: without unity, strong leadership, accountability, and a focus on national interest beyond party politics, the country risks stagnation despite its independence.
