WOMEN CRUCIAL TO GHANA’S TREE CROPS ECONOMY

At the ongoing Ghana Tree Crops Investment Summit and Exhibition 2026, a senior agribusiness expert, Dr. Vida Korang, emphasised that women are essential to a sustainable tree crops economy and should be more actively involved in production, processing, and agribusiness leadership. Speaking during discussions on sector inclusivity, Dr. Korang noted that the success and resilience of Ghana’s tree crops sector depends heavily on the participation of women, especially in rural communities where they play a critical role in agriculture. “A tree crop economy that sidelines women cannot be sustainable,” Dr. Korang said, calling on policymakers, investors, and local leaders to create opportunities that empower women across the value chain. Stakeholders attending the summit echoed her views, highlighting the importance of inclusive policies to make the sector more productive, resilient, and profitable for all participants. The summit, hosted at the Accra International Conference Centre, continues to bring together investors, traditional authorities, and government officials to discuss strategies for local processing, value addition, and broader economic growth.
