THE SECRET BEHIND GHANA BLACK STARS’ LOSS TO THE GAMBIA – EMMANUEL AGYEMANG BADU, FORMER BLACK STARS PLAYER
Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has claimed that Ghana’s Black Stars lost 4–2 to The Gambia because the team could not manage the game well, while the players also lacked enough experience on the field of play.
He continued by saying that the current problem of the Ghana Black Stars is not about the coaching. However, he believes Ghana should develop its national youth teams, including the U-17, U-19, U-20 and U-23 teams, to give young players enough experience to compete effectively in international matches.
Additionally, he said decisive decisions are key when things are not going the way you want. Therefore, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) should take bold decisions on how to solve the problems currently facing Ghana football. According to him, dissolving the FA is not an option.
He finally suggested that if you want to play for the Ghana Black Stars, you need qualities such as character, aura, charisma, a strong mentality, focus, determination and a fighting spirit. “There is no juju in the captain’s armband.” He stressed that Ghana should build long-term projects as a footballing country rather than relying on short-term projects.
He made these remarks during an interview with Paul Napoleon Agyeman, host of Scoreboard on ICADTV.
