PRESIDENT OF POULTRY FARMERS ASSOCIATION RAISES CONCERNS OVER IMPLEMENTATION OF ‘NKOKO NKETENKETE’ INITIATIVE- MR GEORGE DASSAH
The President of the National Poultry Farmers Association of Ghana, Mr. George Dassah, has expressed concerns over the implementation of the government's “Nkoko Nketenkete” initiative, warning that the programme could fail if challenges identified in its first phase are not addressed. Speaking in a phone interview on ICAD TV’s Ghana Nti Morning Show with Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asrifi, Mr. Dassah described the initiative as a good policy aimed at making poultry farming more profitable in Ghana. According to him, the programme was designed in three phases, but the first phase has faced challenges that have affected its effectiveness. Mr. Dassah alleged that the implementation process has become politicized, making it difficult for the programme to achieve its intended objectives. He stated that reports received from some members indicated that while beneficiaries were expecting about 50 chicks, some reportedly received only six chicks. He further noted that future phases, which are expected to provide between 500 and 2,000 birds to beneficiaries, could face difficulties if the current challenges are not addressed. He urged authorities to ensure transparency and fairness in the distribution process to guarantee the success of the programme. PRESIDENT OF POULTRY FARMERS ASSOCIATION OF GHANA
