Political analyst Nana Piesie Anto has criticized some Ghanaians for refusing to reduce the prices of goods despite recent fuel price reductions. Speaking on the ICAD TV Morning Show (Ghana Nti) hosted by Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, he said Ghana should have made more progress after many years of independence. Nana Piesie Anto questioned the role of citizens in national development, asking: “We as citizens, what have we also done for Ghana?” According to him, although fuel prices have reduced, many traders and businesses have not reduced the prices of goods and services, which he described as unfair to consumers. Drawing from his 21 years of lecturing experience at the university, he explained that leadership can influence progress, noting that some leaders came when things were not going well while others helped improve situations. He also touched on strikes by the Civil and Local Government Staff Association Ghana (CLOGSAG), saying the industrial actions since 2019 highlight ongoing challenges within the public sector. Nana Piesie Anto concluded that both leaders and citizens must take responsibility if Ghana is to achieve real national development.
