PEACE WATCH GHANA URGES YOUTH TO REJECT SHORT-TERM HANDOUTS AND DEMAND SUSTAINABLE JOBS .

The President of Peace Watch Ghana, Madam Diana Nyonkopah Daniels, has called on the youth to rise up, prepare themselves for the future and demand meaningful opportunities from political and national leaders. Speaking on issues affecting the youth, Madam Daniels urged young people to acquire the necessary skills, education and experience to become self-reliant rather than depending on their parents, relatives or political leaders for support. She cautioned the youth against allowing themselves to be influenced by small financial inducements, including GH¢200, GH¢500 or GH¢1,000, stressing that such temporary assistance cannot provide a sustainable future. According to her, the focus should instead be on creating more jobs and sustainable economic opportunities for young people across the country. Madam Daniels also expressed concern about alleged misconduct and corruption in some public institutions and among political leaders. She urged citizens to keep a close eye on public officials, including Members of Parliament and other political leaders, and demand accountability for their stewardship of public resources. She, however, acknowledged that while some leaders are doing commendable work, others may engage in actions that negatively affect the country. The President of Peace Watch Ghana further appealed to Ghanaians to develop a stronger sense of patriotism and integrity, warning against a culture where people seek to cheat or take advantage of one another. She stressed that empowering the youth through education, skills development, employment and responsible leadership is essential to building a better future for Ghana.
