Oti NADMO Director Highlights Logistics and Infrastructure Challenges

The Oti Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Kwabena Foster Dzre, has outlined some of the major challenges confronting the organisation in its efforts to respond effectively to disasters in the region. Speaking in a phone interview with Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi on the Ghana Nti Morning Show, Mr. Dzre said one of the biggest challenges facing the Oti Regional NADMO office is inadequate logistics. According to him, the region is highly prone to flooding, making equipment such as boats and life jackets essential for rescue operations and public safety. He explained that recent heavy rains led to flooding, leaving many residents displaced and causing significant damage to homes and properties. He therefore appealed for additional life jackets to enable NADMO personnel to effectively patrol and enforce safety measures, particularly on the Volta Lake. Mr. Dzre also identified poor road connectivity as another major obstacle. He noted that many communities in the Oti Region are difficult to access because of poor road conditions, making it challenging for NADMO teams to deliver relief items and respond quickly to emergencies, especially in remote areas. He stressed that improving logistics and road infrastructure would significantly enhance the organisation's ability to respond promptly to disasters and protect lives and property. Mr. Dzre concluded by reiterating that inadequate logistics and poor road infrastructure remain some of the key challenges facing the Oti Regional NADMO office and called for greater support to strengthen disaster preparedness and emergency response in the region.
