OFORI-ATTA'S RETURN NOT SOLUTION TO GHANA'S PROBLEMS " - SECURITY EXPERT
Security Expert, Andrews Asiedu Tetteh, says the return of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to face corruption charges is not the solution to Ghana’s current economic challenges. This comes after President John Dramani Mahama appealed to Mr. Ofori-Atta to return to Ghana during the Reset Tour and Citizens’ Engagement in the Volta Region on Friday, July 17. The President assured him of a fair trial under Ghana’s judicial system and stated that failing to return could permanently tarnish his reputation and that of his family. In a direct appeal, President Mahama said, “If we Ghanaians are your children, then we are calling you. We are begging you, father, come back. Your children are calling you to come back.” Speaking on ICAD TV’s "Ghana Nti" Morning Show with Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi on Monday July 20th, Mr. Tetteh urged Ghanaians not to view Mr. Ofori-Atta as the root of the country’s problems. He noted that given the President’s experience, the comments appeared to be made in light-heartedness. According to him, matters of this nature are handled through diplomatic relations and due legal process, and not through public appeals.
