MR. SAMUEL OBIMPAH URGES INCLUSION OF CHILD PROTECTION EDUCATION IN SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS

Educationalist Mr. Samuel Obimpah has called for Social Studies and Religious and Moral Education (RME) textbooks to place greater emphasis on child protection, sexual abuse and the consequences of offences against children. In an interview with Journalist Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, he proposed that students should be educated about the seriousness of sexual offences and the legal consequences offenders may face. Mr Obimpah also advocated stronger deterrent measures against people who sexually abuse children, stressing the need to protect vulnerable children and promote responsible behaviour in society. He said education on child protection should be strengthened to help students understand their rights and the importance of respecting others
