LAWYER ANOKYE FRIMPONG: EXPLAIN POLITICAL MESS BEHIND RAWLINGS PARK NAMING, NOT PRESIDENTIAL HONOR.

By ICAD News DeskSource: ICAD International Media1 min read
Historian Anokye Frimpong discussed the naming of Rawlings Park, explaining that it was not created by any president but because those operating there were engaging in unfair practices (“kalabule”), which JJ Rawlings sought to correct. He criticized naming some major institutions after Rawlings or Achampong, arguing that only those who made truly historic contributions should receive such honors. He clarified that the Kotoka Airport naming was a decision by government leaders who considered the honoree a hero, and emphasized that the decision was not tribalism, citing support from multiple regions including Kumasi and the Ewe areas.
