The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, Honourable Rudolf Collingwood Williams, has highlighted some of the major challenges affecting the municipality and called for improved public cooperation and stronger enforcement of regulations.
Hon. Rudolf Collingwood Williams, who was confirmed as MCE in May 2025, made the remarks during an exclusive interview on ICAD TV’s Ghana Nti Morning Show with Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi.
According to the MCE, one of the major challenges facing the municipality is the attitude and behaviour of some residents, which he said often makes the work of the Assembly and local leadership more difficult.
“People’s behaviours and attitudes are not good. They do not tend to do what is expected of them, so this makes the MCE and MP leave the people to face their own problems,” he stated.
He further explained that another challenge is the inability of some assemblies to consistently enforce regulations and reprimand individuals who violate established rules.
Hon. Rudolf stressed that stronger enforcement mechanisms and accountability from leadership are necessary to restore order and improve development within the municipality.
Touching on sanitation concerns, the MCE identified roadside mechanical activities as one of the issues contributing to congestion and poor environmental conditions in some parts of the constituency.
He explained that some mechanics operate along roadsides and leave vehicles parked on the streets, affecting movement and creating congestion.
“If all cars are not moved from the roadside, they would be towed into a yard, and when you come to claim ownership of the car, you’ll be forced to pay a huge amount,” he warned.
He encouraged residents to cooperate with authorities and adhere to directives issued by the Assembly to avoid penalties and contribute to the development of the municipality.
