GPRTU SUPPORTS BAN ON PREACHING IN COMMERCIAL VEHICLES TO PREVENT DRIVER DISTRACTION
The Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Mr. Samuel Amoah, has expressed support for a ban on preaching in commercial vehicles, citing concerns that religious activities could distract drivers and compromise passenger safety.
Speaking in an interview with Journalist Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, Mr. Samuel Amoah explained that the issue of preaching in commercial vehicles had been discussed for some time, noting that the relevant law was not new.
He indicated that the union supports measures to prevent activities that could distract drivers while they are transporting passengers.
Mr. Amoah said the union had discussed the matter with station masters and was prepared to intensify public education among drivers at various transport terminals.
He added that drivers would be encouraged to comply with the directive and report relevant concerns to the nearest police station where necessary.
The GPRTU official stressed that the priority was to protect passengers, drivers, and other road users by promoting responsible conduct in commercial vehicles.
