Accra, Ghana – Hon. John Desmond Sowah, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga West, has delivered a scathing critique of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), asserting that the party has already lost the trust and confidence of Ghanaians. In a fiery interview, Hon. Sowah said, “Even if Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, comes again as running mate for Vice President Bawumia, the NPP will still lose. Over the past eight years, they have made countless promises to Ghanaians, but most of them remain unfulfilled.” He went further, drawing a stark comparison between the NPP and the current administration under President John Dramani Mahama. “We have been in office for only seven months, and already, you can see the changes we are implementing. Compare that to the NPP’s seven months, and the difference is clear. What they promised in eight years, they could not achieve. Meanwhile, Mahama, in just a few years, has initiated projects and reforms that are transforming the country,” he said. Hon. Sowah’s remarks come amid growing public dissatisfaction with the NPP, which critics say has failed to deliver on key promises regarding infrastructure, social programs, and economic policies. The MCE did not hold back in calling out the opposition, accusing them of relying on empty rhetoric and political slogans rather than tangible results. He emphasized that Ghanaians are increasingly looking for leadership that delivers, not just makes promises. “The people of this country are tired of rhetoric and political games. They want to see results, and that is what the Mahama administration is providing,” he said. By highlighting Napo’s potential return as a running mate, Hon. Sowah sought to underscore his view that political maneuvering will not be enough to revive the NPP’s fortunes.
