ECONOMIST SAMSON ANOMAH QUESTIONS BENEFITS OF GHANA'S IMF AGREEMENT
Economist Samson Anomah has questioned the benefits of Ghana's agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), calling for a careful assessment of its impact on the country's economy. In an interview with Journalist Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, Mr. Anomah expressed concerns about Ghana's economic direction and the need to evaluate whether the IMF-supported programmed is delivering the expected benefits. He argued that the government should critically examine the country's economic arrangements and consider alternative approaches that could support sustainable growth and reduce financial vulnerabilities. According to him, Ghana must ensure that its economic policies address the needs of citizens, encourage productive investment and strengthen the country's ability to manage its financial obligations. Mr. Anomah further stressed the importance of reviewing the effectiveness of existing agreements rather than continuing with arrangements without carefully assessing their outcomes. His comments have renewed attention on the debate surrounding Ghana's engagement with the IMF and the broader question of how best to achieve long-term economic stability.
