DR. HAYFORD AYERAKWA EXPRESSES DISAPPOINTMENT OVER GOVERNMENT'S YOUTH EMPLOYMENT EFFORTS

Economist Dr. Hayford Ayerakwa has expressed disappointment with the NDC government over what he describes as inadequate job creation for young people, warning that unemployment could undermine efforts to combat illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey. In an interview with Journalist Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, Dr. Ayerakwa argued that young people need sustainable employment opportunities to discourage them from engaging in illegal mining. He maintained that without viable alternatives to galamsey, efforts to address the problem would remain challenging.
