ABLEKUMA CENTRAL MCE, HON. FRANK NKANSAH, CREDITS MAHAMA’S EXPERIENCE FOR DEVELOPMENT IN THE MUNICIPALITY

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ablekuma Central, Hon. Frank Nkansah, has attributed the ongoing development projects in the municipality to the experience and leadership of President John Dramani Mahama. Speaking to Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, host of the Ghana Nti Morning Show on ICAD TV, Hon. Nkansah said President Mahama's extensive experience in public office has positioned him to drive meaningful development across the country. «"Mahama has served in many positions, so he has the experience," he stated.» According to the MCE, the government has allocated funds to all 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to promote grassroots development. He explained that the allocations are structured to support priority sectors, with 10 percent each dedicated to sanitation, education, furniture, infrastructure, and water systems, while 20 percent has been earmarked for legacy projects. Hon. Nkansah highlighted several education projects currently underway in Ablekuma Central. He disclosed that construction has begun on a nine-unit classroom block at the Salvation Army Cluster of Schools. He also announced that desks will be supplied to Riyadh Basic School in the Manbroke Electoral Area. He further revealed that a six-unit classroom block is under construction at Lartebiokorshie, while another six-unit storey classroom block is being built at New Abossey Okai in Mataheko. According to him, the Mataheko project, which had remained uncompleted for between 30 and 50 years, is expected to be commissioned within the next two months. The MCE also cited the construction of a library at Lartebiokorshie and the Kateco ICT Centre as part of efforts to improve access to quality education and expand technology-based learning opportunities for students. Beyond infrastructure, Hon. Nkansah said the Assembly has introduced scholarship schemes to support students. He added that renovation works have been undertaken at J.E.A. Mills School, the Roman Catholic School at Mataheko, and Ahyaa Ideen Islamic School. He noted that teacher development programmes are also being implemented to improve the quality of teaching and learning in these schools. On employment, the MCE said the government has created opportunities for young people through recruitment into the Community Task Force. He also highlighted placements under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), including opportunities as GHAPOHA Police Assistants, as well as financial support for students' school fees. Hon. Nkansah further stated that improving security through better street lighting has been one of the Assembly's major priorities. He said new streetlights have been installed at Flamingo, Gaskia, Prime Care Junction, Goodwill, and Phobia to enhance public safety and support economic activity at night. According to the MCE, these interventions demonstrate the government's commitment to improving infrastructure, expanding educational opportunities, creating jobs for the youth, and enhancing the overall living conditions of residents in Ablekuma Central.
