ABDUL AWAL BACKS PRESIDENT’S ECONOMIC ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Accra, Ghana – On Ghana Nti Today with Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asrifi, social political analyst and economist Abdul Awal has backed the President’s recently inaugurated 12‑member Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy. Modern Ghana President John Dramani Mahama officially swore in the group on 11 February 2026 to provide expert guidance on stabilising and transforming Ghana’s economy. Modern Ghana Mr. Awal described the team — which includes respected figures such as Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku‑Agyemang, economist Kwame Pianim, industrialist Sir Samuel Esson Jonah, former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, and business leader Togbe Afede XIV — as highly qualified and capable of offering valuable advice. Modern Ghana Other members are Ishmael Yamson, Nana Oye Mansa Yeboaa, Ato Brown, Dr. Henry A. Kofi Wampah, Ms Abena Amoah, Prof. Priscilla Twumasi Baffour, and Prof. Patience Aseweh Abor. Modern Ghana “What matters is results, not age. These appointments are about merit and making the economy work for Ghanaians,” Mr. Awal said. He added that while the Finance Minister oversees daily economic policy, the advisory group offers extra support and strategic insight that could help attract investment and strengthen growth. Mr. Awal urged the nation to focus on the committee’s impact on Ghana’s economic future, rather than the age of its members.
