TCDA CEO DR. ANDY OSEI OKRAH CALLS For STRATEGIC INVESTMENT IN TREE CROPS
The Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority, Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, has called for strategic investment and stronger regulation to unlock the full potential of Ghana’s tree crops sector.
Speaking at the Ghana Tree Crops Investment Summit & Exhibition, Dr. Okrah emphasised the need for structured growth and regulatory clarity to ensure the industry delivers value for both farmers and investors.
“Our objective is clear — to create a well-regulated, investor-friendly, and farmer-focused tree crops sector that delivers value at every stage of the chain,” he said.
Dr. Okrah noted that Ghana’s tree crops industry — including cashew, shea, rubber, coconut, oil palm, and mango — holds enormous economic potential but requires coordinated oversight, strategic capital, and quality standards.
He added that the TCDA is strengthening licensing systems, improving traceability mechanisms, and tightening export standards to enhance competitiveness in global markets.
“These reforms will protect Ghana’s reputation internationally and position our tree crops sector as a leading destination for agro-industrial investment,” Dr. Okrah stated.
He concluded by stressing that sustainable growth depends on close collaboration between regulators, investors, processors, and farmers to build a resilient, value-added tree crops industry.
