SECURITY ANALYST ANDREWS ASEIDU TETTEH SHARES HIS VIEWS ON THE RECENT FLOODS

The floods that occurred on June 30 left many residents in shock and sorrow, with several people losing their homes, properties, and, in some cases, loved ones. The flooding submerged parts of Accra, including Odawna and Alajo, once again raising concerns about urban planning, drainage infrastructure, and environmental management. Speaking by phone with Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi on ICAD TV's Ghana Nti Morning Show, security analyst Andrews Aseidu Tetteh expressed his sympathy to those affected by the disaster and extended his condolences to families who suffered losses. He urged residents to prioritize their safety during periods of heavy rainfall, noting that floods often come with serious security and safety risks, including the loss of lives and property. Andrews Aseidu Tetteh also attributed the recurring floods, in part, to the indiscriminate dumping of refuse into drainage systems. According to him, many Ghanaians are aware of the consequences of this practice but continue to dispose of waste improperly, leading to blocked drains that prevent the free flow of water and contribute to flooding. He emphasized the need for greater public responsibility and adherence to proper waste disposal practices to help reduce the risk of future flooding.
