NPP UNVEILS ROADMAP FOR INTERNAL ELECTIONS

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has released a detailed timetable for its nationwide internal elections, aimed at strengthening party structures ahead of future political engagements. The announcement was made yesterday during a press conference at the party’s national headquarters, led by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong. “Our goal is to ensure smooth, transparent, and inclusive elections across all party levels,” Mr. Frimpong said, outlining the roadmap for the party’s internal election process. Key Dates for NPP Internal Elections The NPP outlined a step-by-step schedule for its 2026 internal elections: Membership Registration: March 1–31, 2026 — to register and update party members nationwide. Opening & Closing of Nominations: August 10–14, 2026 — aspirants for national executive positions will submit their forms. Filing of Nominations: August 15–17, 2026. Vetting of Aspirants: August 20–23, 2026 — ensuring compliance with party rules and eligibility requirements. Release of Vetting Report: August 25, 2026. Appeals Period: August 28–29, 2026 — for any disputes over vetting outcomes. National Executive Elections: September 18–20, 2026 — the culmination of the party’s internal electoral process. In addition, branch and regional executive elections will run from July 15 to August 9, 2026, strengthening grassroots structures across the country. Ensuring Continuity and Participation Mr. Frimpong explained that the tenure of several party officials, including polling station, constituency, and regional executives, will be extended to cover the election period. This measure is designed to ensure continuity, prevent disruptions, and facilitate smooth election management. The General Secretary also called on party members to actively participate in the registration and voting process, saying it is crucial for maintaining transparency and accountability within the party. “We encourage all members to engage fully.
