MAHDI JIBRIL, NDC's ACTING DIRECTOR OF ELECTIONS AND IT, OUTLINES ROADMAP FOR THE PARTY'S UPCOMING CONSTITUENCY ELECTIONS

Mahdi Jibril, the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s Acting Director of Elections and Information Technology (IT), has outlined the party's plans for its upcoming constituency executive elections. Constituency executive elections are held every four years as part of the party's internal reorganisation process ahead of Ghana's general elections. The exercise is aimed at electing constituency executives who will manage the affairs of the party at the constituency level and help prepare the party for future elections. Over the weekend, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) conducted its constituency executive elections from July 11 to July 12, recording an 88.7 percent completion rate, with voting successfully held in 245 out of 276 constituencies. While the exercise was largely peaceful, elections in 23 constituencies remain outstanding. Polls in Ningo-Prampram, Atwima Mponua, Obuasi West, and Trobu were postponed due to technical challenges. Speaking in a telephone interview on the Ghana Nti Morning Show with Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, Mahdi Jibril said the NDC had completed the necessary preparations for its own constituency executive elections, which are scheduled to take place on July 24. According to him, the objective of the elections is to strengthen the party by building on past achievements and electing executives who will work more effectively to advance the party's vision. He expressed confidence that those elected would perform better than their predecessors and contribute meaningfully to the party's growth. Mr. Jibril explained that executives elected at the branch, constituency, regional, and national levels would remain in office throughout the party's organisational cycle, including the period leading to and following the 2028 general elections. He concluded by stating that the NDC has fulfilled many of the promises it made to Ghanaians since assuming office and remains committed to delivering even more for the country. EDITOR DEBORAH
