JOURNALIST NANA NHYIRABA KWABENA ASIRIFI QUESTIONS THE FREE SHS POLICY
Journalist Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi has criticised the implementation of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy, arguing that the programme should not be described as entirely free if it only covers school fees.
He questioned the extent to which the policy addresses the various financial challenges parents face in educating their children at the senior high school level.
According to him, the government must ensure that the policy provides meaningful financial relief to parents beyond the payment of school fees.
His comments have renewed discussions about the scope of the Free SHS policy and whether it adequately addresses the educational expenses faced by Ghanaian families.
The Free SHS policy was introduced to remove financial barriers to secondary education by absorbing approved school fees and other eligible educational costs.
