GOVERNMENT DONATES GH¢100,000 FROM NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER PROCEEDS TO KORLE BU RENAL UNIT

The Government of Ghana has donated GH¢100,000 to the Renal Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital from proceeds raised during the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving. The donation was presented by the Presidential Envoy for Inter-Faith and Ecumenical Relations, Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, together with members of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving Planning Committee. The funds are expected to strengthen dialysis services and improve patient care for thousands of Ghanaians living with kidney disease. Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Afriyie Ankrah said true thanksgiving should go beyond words and be reflected in acts of compassion and support for those in need. "As we continue to thank God for the peace and stability Ghana enjoys, we are reminded that true thanksgiving is expressed through acts of compassion, service, and support for those in need," he said. Management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital welcomed the donation, describing it as timely support for the Renal Unit, which continues to face increasing demand and the high cost of dialysis treatment. The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, introduced under President John Dramani Mahama, aims to promote national unity, spiritual reflection, and civic responsibility. The Planning Committee indicated that future proceeds from the initiative will continue to support critical sectors such as health, education, and social welfare.
